Inspired title from Alicia Keys and "Empire State of Mind", and the wonderful view across the River Tees, by The Riverside.
View On Black
On my way back from Redcar I couldn't resist one of my favourite locations in Middlesbrough, The Riverside just behind Middlesbrough FC at The Riverside! The light was still doing wonderful things and I knew my Sigma 10-20mm hadn't been tested at this spot! Well she did what I wanted her to do, which was to catch the wonderful wide view and give me some starburts too!
Everytime I come to this location I'm reminded of the Alicia Keys song "Empire State of the Mind"; whilst I know the 'boro is no New York but this spot does inspire me! And the light was wonderful, I used a soft grad 0.6 just to hold some of the power of the setting sun back, but the rest was all down to mother nature!
Did you know there is a version of this song on the web about Whitley Bay instead of New York! Very much a tongue in cheek version and abit Ouch on the ears at times!
I may dig that one out one day!
Alicia Keys ~ "Empire State of Mind"
"Grew up in a town that is famous as the place of movie scenes
Noise was always loud, there are sirens all around and the streets are mean
If I can make it here, I can make it anywhere, that's what they say
Seeing my face in lights or my name on marquees found down on Broadway
Even if it ain’t all it seems, I got a pocketful of dreams
Baby, I'm from New York
Concrete jungle where dreams are made of
There's nothing you can't do
Now you're in New York
These streets will make you feel brand new
Big lights will inspire you
Hear it for New York, New York, New York!"
